Gila County Community Services Division

"Improving the quality of life for all residents, one life at a time".  Gila County Community Services Division consists of four departments offering services to residents. Departments include:  * Community Action Program (CAP) * Housing Services/ Section 8 Housing Choice Program * Gila Employment and Special Treatment (GEST) * Globe Comprehensive One-Stop (Arizona@WORK) CAP: The Gila County Community Action Program (CAP) has been in existence since 1980.  Our service area includes all of Gila County.  CAP receives funding from the Arizona Department of Economic Security, Pinal Gila Council for Senior Citizens, Arizona Department of Housing, and many other funding sources.  The funding is geared towards helping residents become more self sufficient.  Our goal is to provide the best services through case management and emergency assistance, with the minimum of costs to Gila County Government. Program Services Include: Utility Payment/Deposit Assistance, Eviction Prevention Rent Assistance, Utility Discount Programs - APS, SW Gas, Lifeline GEST: Gila Employment and Special Training coordinates with County, State and Federal Governments in a joint effort to better serve the citizens of Gila County. History of G.E.S.T: The Demonstration Project began in 1975 and was founded on the principle of “Acceptance”.  Establishing community acceptance of the individuals with disabilities is and always will be our priority.  In 1996 the program name was changed to Gila Employment and Special Training, but our goal remains the same as we provide daily living skills and employment supports to all G.E.S.T. clients. GEST Services Include: * Group Supported Employment (GSE) * Individual Supported Employment (ISE) * Employment Support Aide (ESA) * Employment Related Transportation (TRE) From The Division of Developmental Disabilities:  Our services help eligible individuals with developmental disabilities achieve self-sufficiency and independence. The Division likewise offers supports for family members and other caregivers. We believe that you can best be supported in integrated community settings and the majority of the Division’s programs and services are tailored to meet individual needs at home and other community settings. Gest services for vocational rehabilitation services clients:  * job development and placement (jd/p) * work adjustment training (wat) * supported employment (se) * extended supported employment (ese) * rehabilitation instructional services (ris) * training and independent living skills development
