The Housing Bureau of Pompano Beach uses the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program to provide rental assistance to qualified people. THE HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER PROGRAM IS A FEDERAL GOVERNMENT PROGRAM THAT HELPS VERY LOW-INCOME FAMILIES, THE ELDERLY AND THE DISABLED BUY DECENT, SAFE AND HYGIENIC HOUSING IN THE PRIVATE MARKET. PARTICIPANTS ARE FREE TO CHOOSE ANY HOUSING THAT MEETS THE REQUIREMENTS OF HOUSING QUALITY STANDARDS (HQS) RENTAL REASONABLENESS. This includes single family houses, townhouses, apartments and condominiums (association approval required) and is not limited to units located in Praia do Pompano. The landlord retains the rights to private property, including management, tenant selection and maintenance. Long waiting periods (i.e., two (2) years or more) are common and closing the list is necessary when there are more families on the list than can be helped in the near future. Eligibility: Eligibility for a housing voucher depends on the total gross household income annual income, background checks, family size, and is limited to U.S. citizens and certain categories of non-citizens who have eligible immigration status.
