Alaskan Aids Assistance Association

Provides housing opportunities for those who have AIDS/HIV. Owns several units of housing. Offers financial assistance to qualifying clients for short-term rent/mortgage and utility assistance, assistance with deposits, long-term rental assistance and transitional housing. Client Resources Staff also work with clients to develop individualized housing program plans.  Hours: Monday - Friday 9AM-5PM Eligibility and Intake: The Four A's receives funding from multiple sources, each with their own eligibility criteria.  The core eligibility criteria for any service through Four A's Client Resources department is an HIV positive certification. All individuals requesting services from the Four A's are required to complete an intake process with Four A's staff prior to any service being provided.  Intakes can occur over the phone if an individual is able to demonstrate a hardship would be caused to meet in person (i.e. residence in village, or cost of travel to the Four A's office in Anchorage or Juneau). At your intake meeting be prepared to provide a copy of your HIV certification from your medical provider.  You are also expected to provide income documentation of one of the following: * At least 2 months of consecutive pay stubs * Most recent tax return * Declaration of No Income Your intake will include a basic demographic and HIV specific interview, development of a service plan, and completion of any releases of information required to advance the supports requested.  Be sure to allow ample time for the intake meeting as it takes time to complete all paperwork and initial service planning. Support Services:  Four A's offers a variety of resources and services in support of HIV+ individuals and their families.  You will work with a case manager to develop a Service Plan, outlining your individual needs and goals and the specific steps you can take towards achieving them. Some services and supports are community-based, so your case manager will assist you in working with other agencies to meet your needs. Other services you’ll access are managed through Four A's. These might include: * Medications (ADAP) * Medical Co-pays * Health Insurance * Housing * Behavioral Health Treatment * Nutrition/Food Pantry * Oral Health Newly Diagnosed: Four A's is here to assist you in getting a handle of what your diagnosis means to you, and to connect you with the host of resources available.   Utilizing a medical case management model, Four A's provides information, referral and supports in relation to: HIV medications, health insurance coverage, medical care, housing, behavioral health treatment, nutrition and oral care.  Most services are income dependent as Four A's is a payer of last resort. Social: Every Friday at noon, we welcome clients to enjoy a fresh, hot lunch at our office in Anchorage*.  “Friday Lunch” is a chance to get a nutritious meal, meet other HIV+ folks, and relax in a supportive environment with people who know and care about you.  Join us for a meal and a good time. Four A’s also offers weekly social gatherings and activities for HIV+ individuals to build community. Past examples include board games, tie-dying, a stroll on the trail, decorating holiday cookies, and a trip to the Alaska State Fair.  AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP): The AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) provides FDA approved HIV-related prescription drugs to under insured and uninsured individuals living with HIV/AIDS. In the State of Alaska, to be eligible for ADAP enrollment, an individual must meet the following criteria: a. Documented HIV positive status b. Residency in the State of Alaska Residing in Alaska for a minimum of 30 days Willing to sign an "intent to Stay" letter c. Income eligibility Income less than or equal to 400% of the Federal Poverty Level of Alaska for the applicable family size Non-income assets that fall within the level allowed for Medicaid eligibility d. Be prescribed a medication on the ADAP formulary by an Alaska physician e. Be an active client of one of the State-funded HIV Care Consortium lead agencies. Currently, these agencies include the Alaskan AIDS Assistance Association (Four A's) and the Interior AIDS Association (IAA).
