The Community Action Program (CAP) is a program that provided direct financial assistance for utility payments and utility deposits. CAP also works with clients who are in need of assistance for rent or mortgage payments in order to prevent homelessness.
A holistic approach is taken as they focus on case management. they utilize a wide variety of tools to help their clients achieve their goals from direct emergency financial assistance to, for example, weatherizing your home. Short-term emergency services such as emergency food boxes and referrals to food stamps and unemployment benefits are provided along with long-term solutions such as referrals to job training and employment or disability referrals for those that are unable to work. Transportation assistance is provided to link their clients with employment, health care, and other social service needs.
